About Me and This Smooth Cookies Blog
A few years back, I led a single mens’ home group of 20-30ish year old guys. I would try to make things a little interesting and come up with some cool, creative phrases just for fun. I don’t know exactly for sure how or why I coined the phrase “Smooth Cookies” originally beside it really sounded cool to me.
I do think that I got it from scripture originally, but it definetly makes me think of scripture now. Exodus 16:4-5, “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not. On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily.” How awesome would this be to see?
Exodus 16 goes on to say in verse 13-14, “In the evening quail came up and covered the camp, and in the morning dew lay around the camp. And when the dew had gone up, there was on the face of the wilderness a fine, flake-like thing, fine as frost on the ground.” It goes on to describe how the LORD used this to teach Israel to keep the Sabbath in Exodus 16:25-26, “Moses said, ‘Eat it today, for today is a Sabbath to the LORD; today you will not find it in the field. Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, which is a Sabbath, there will be none’.”
Some people still tried to gather it on the seventh day, but there was no bread. Exodus 16:29, “See! The LORD has given you the Sabbath: therefore on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Remain each of you in his place; let no one go out of his place on the seventh day.”
Exodus 16:31 is where I get “Smooth Cookies” from. It reads, “Now the house of Israel called its name manna. It was like coriander seed, white, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.”
Many years later, my Lord Yeshua (Jesus) would compare Himself to the bread that came down from Heaven. John 6:30-35,
So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform? Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” Yeshua then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” Yeshua said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst”
I am a grateful believer in Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ). I strive to love my Heavenly Father with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength. I know that I can not do anything without GOD’s help. So, I pray that I’m led by the Holy Spirit in all I do giving GOD the glory for everything.
I want to continually to obtain more joy in Yeshua by learning more and more of Him and His ways. Doing the things that get me more of Him and stripping away anything that robs me of having more joy in Him.
I continue to search the scriptures daily to see more of GOD. I want to meditate on His Words. I want to be able to bring His Word more and more into my prayer life, work life, home life, and all I do.
He gives me breath every morning and strength to get out of bed. He continues to give me the ability to smile and know that He’s in control of everything.
I strive to look at all sides to separate out what are the facts and what is interpretation and what is tradition before making any conclusions, knowing that I’m prone to biases. I do not believe all tradition is bad, as long as it does not make void the Word of GOD. I do not want myself holding to the tradition of men over the commandment of GOD. Yeshua was speaking to the Pharisees in Mark 7:8, “You leave the commandment of GOD and hold to the tradition of men.” Unfortunately, I know that I’m just as guilty of this rebuke at one time or another in my life. I’m not perfect and believe only one man has been perfect in all of human history, Yeshua Messiah.
Even after this, sometimes I have to say I don’t know. In the past, I’ve found myself battling for things that I’ve been wrong on because of pride and fear. So, I know that I’m prone to this and must strive to be humble, patient, and okay with not knowing everything 100%.
I know tribulations and trials are sure to come. I know that I’m not perfect. May HaShem give me strength and courage to seek His truth, and to live in His ways. May my Heavenly Father guide my steps, and give me insight in all I do. May the L-RD have mercy on me and forgive me of my sins. May I dwell in His house forever.
